CDR Pumps for the Refinery Sector

Applications:

The refinery It involves all the processes necessary to convert crude oil into finished fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, LPG, and kerosene. The process begins with the removal of sulfur and other impurities that can compromise the quality of the oil. Next, the oil is heated in distillation columns, where, at temperatures of approximately 360°–370°C, the heavy products are converted into lighter, higher-value products. This process breaks down the hydrocarbon chains, allowing crude oil—which consists largely of fuel oil (approximately 44%)—to be transformed into LPG, gasoline, naphtha, kerosene, and various types of diesel fuel through cracking. The residues from these processes are further treated at even higher temperatures (approximately 450°C in visbreaking) to obtain additional useful products. Each product obtained is then subjected to further specific processes, such as reforming, alkylation, and esterification.

The centrifugal pumps used in refinery processes include the models UTS, UTN e UCL. The UTS is a Single-stage centrifugal pump High efficiency, available in sealless and bare shaft execution. Made of AISI 316 stainless steel, it is equipped with oil bath bearing supports, ideal for 24/7 continuous operation. This material offers full compatibility with refined products. The pump magnets can be Neodymium Iron Boron or Samarium Cobalt, depending on the temperature of the pumped liquid. The UTS, with its magnetic drive system, is particularly suitable for handling high-temperature diathermic oils, managing fluids up to 300°C.

In cases where AISI 316 steel is not compatible with the fluid to be treated, the UTN represents a valid alternative, thanks to its PFA, PVDF, or Polypropylene coating. This pump is characterized by a simple design and a reduced number of components, making it extremely easy to maintain. The fluoropolymer coating ensures high resistance, making it suitable for applications in particularly aggressive environments.

Finally, the UCL is a Mechanical seal centrifugal pump, also available with PFA, PVDF, or Polypropylene linings, ideal for the treatment of corrosive and hazardous liquids.
