Ferric Chloride is used throughout Industry in a number of applications, one of those being in the chemical etching industry.
Ferric chloride is heated and maintained at about 50°C; and sprayed at pressures of 2.5 Bar against materials such as Stainless steel, Brass, Aluminium and Steel to chemically "ETCH" the surfaces.
This process lends itself to producing items such as microchip bases, printed circuit board manufacture, stencils, nameplates and other highly intricate parts


CDR magnetic drive pumps lend themselves particularly to handling this aggressive liquid, which can easily contaminate the surrounding area with the slightest leak. The magnetic drive pump concept removes the need for traditional mechanical seals, which by their very design, suffer from wear due to heavy contact of the mating seal faces. The Magnetic drive coupling ensures that these seals are removed, which means a totally-sealed pump unit is in operation, and the only opportunity for leakage is in the case of catastrophic failure. To protect against this, we recommend installing a digital load monitor, which trips the motor is adverse operating conditions should occur. The CDR magnetic drive pump is so successful with handling this liquid, that we have obtained and implemented a single source agreement with a Chemical Milling machine manufacturer, P & G Processors Ltd, who have estimated to have installed over 75 pumps on these applications over the last four – five year period.
